Forum post tips.

Posting to the forums will give you some traffic
from your sig as we have mentioned in previous
post.
Getting people reading your post is something
that can be improved on by utilising the following
few tips.

  • be creative with your titles,
  • create curiosity or very mild controversy
  • encourage others to share opinions
  • be clear and reply to all replies if possible
  • be honest with all you interact with
  • be yourself, there is no-one else like you
  • be creative with your sig link title
Forums can also be a great place to meet people who
will no doubt have knowledge and skills which may
enhance your online learning.

It is also a great place to barter for help etc, trade
skills with like minded people who need your skills.

Forums are communities.

Treat others as you like to be treated and help advise
any way you can, just as you would offline with those
you know.

A very important tip to remember : not everyone
is like you.. or me.. there are always going to be those
that are out for an argument, or plain old bullying
just as offline.
The best thing is to not give them the time of the day,
the sooner they are ignored the sooner they stop or go.
Just as with offline.

Have fun posting, after all the posters are real people
so get to know them, let them get to know you and it
will drive people to check out your sig, and your blog..

Getting the readers, where to start?

Traffic IS going to be the lifeblood of your blog.
Without readers it is hopeless and a waste of time
and energy, without readers you will NEVER
earn from your blog.. that much IS obvious.

So.. getting traffic to a new blog.. how?

There are several ways of going about it all with
varying degrees of effort, time and work.

Oh yes, did you just think they will turn up?

Afraid not.. there is work involved as with anything
you do, the results are down to the effort and work
put into it... but...

Don't let that discourage you, after all you are in for
real aren't you?
For the long run?

You want to get the hard work up and done so you
can benefit from it some time from now.. a steady
income takes some work to get going, once going it
will snowball.. THAT is the power of the web.

It will come down to automation, which we will cover
but it will be after you get the basics, after all you
want to do it right don't you?

Ok.. lets move on... traffic..starting the trickle..

Here are a few starters for you to utilise:
sig = your signature line, i.e

------------------------------------------

  • make blog post into articles with sig
  • send a sig in all your private emails
  • use your sig in forums on your topic
  • post in comments on other blogs of topic
  • email owners of newsletters you read
Lets take one at a time..

Making your blog post as articles with sig at the
bottom with a note saying that others may use
your article on their sites as long as they leave
your sig in the article.

Articles can become very viral and with the ease of
posting your article without having to write a thing,
similar topic related blog owners, newsletter writers
are going to take advantage of your work.

Sending your sig in all your private emails will get
your friends and contacts looking to see just what you
are up to, if they like it it is fair to say they may even
spread the word about it.

Contribute to forums that are based on your topic but
do not just dive in posting links, that is seriously bad
and damaging, contribute first, make a few post, help
others, answer anything you can, somewhere along the
line you will get the opportunity to "subtly" post your
link within the post, but do give a good contribution
first.
Then you can post the link in your sig on the forums.
If it is a good blog with alot of relevant info you are
sure to get some fans.. :o)

Posting in the comments on related blogs can be
a great start within the "blogosphere" as it is often
called.
You will get the chance to use your link in the post,
it is often your name that becomes the link.. take note.
This can be great because you are sure to get at least
the owner of the blog looking at your blog.. ;o)

Email the writers of the relevant newsletters you read
telling them how much you like their newsletter, website,
blog or whatever they have.
Giving them some credit for a good job is sure to make
them happy, and if your sig is already in the email, they
are bound to check it out, after all you praised them.

Take time to implement these tactics over the next few
weeks of your blogging adventure.. but do keep posting
to your blog at a regular rate, if it is every 2 days, try to
stick to that, as your readers will become familiar to your
blogging schedule.

Build relationships with those in your niche / topic.

Keep the ball rolling and you will see fairly rapid results.
Comments....?

Writing tips for you.

Often we all suffer from writers block, sitting
in front of a blank screen trying to think of what
to write.. if you get this don't despair as I say we
all have it at some point... some people suffer often.

Tips on writing from me would be..

  • write without stopping once going (edit it after)
  • write as if you are talking to someone, a friend
  • write as you like to read, if it makes sense its good
  • read more, this will help your writing
Now you can really give it a go for a while get posting
and often, you want to get your blog looking somewhat
full with fresh content.. a blank blog doesn't look good!

Just get at least 5 post up before you do anything else.
Set the blog to show 5 post, do this in the settings.

Now you should have a blog looking like its used and
updated at a regular rate, great it is now going to get
easier for you as you will have more confidence to keep
at it, knowing you can see instant results that you like.

Next is to get some all important traffic.. readers..
without them it is going to be a waste of time unless
your blog is solely for your entertainment!

You could keep at this blog for a few weeks then start
a new one where you will take it up a notch and really
start to utilise this blog to the full.

It may be that you want to tell your friends, family
etc and this will at least start your traffic as they will
probably also tell others.. but..

Do NOT take to heart any snide or negative comments
from anyone, this happens but it happens because of
their perception of what you are doing, it is not YOURS.
You know you are doing something you will like and
also be of benefit to others.

So whats next for your blog... well.. readers I guess!
BUT....

First I want to see your blog... post about it in the
comments below and I will give you any advice before
you get that all important traffic!
Ok.. now lets get that traffic......

Blogging IS the easiest way to start.

There is a train of thought that blogs don't make profits.

What sort of crap is that?

OF course blogs make money..
You think there would be SO many blogs if they DIDN'T
make money?
Not every blog makes money... true!
That's mainly because not every blogger blogs to make money.

But...

You think A blog with 1000 hits a day don't make money?

It will make money from adsense alone, maybe not a massive
chunk every week, but a steady stream of income is going to
happen.. the degree of that income depends entirely on your
topic, your keywords, and your traffic.
My blogs ARE making a steady though
not big income.

Blogs definately make money!

BUT you need a bloody BLOG to make money with one!

If you don't have one getting one set up easier than ever now,
there really isn't an excuse for NOT having one..
Blogger is just to simple to get it wrong!
Try it..

What to blog about?

If you have a passion thats the FIRST thing you want to be
blogging about.... why?

The reason being it will at least keep you keen while you learn
as it's a topic you won't get bored with while learing.
That is important to overcome any frustrations you may have,
i.e writers block, coming up with topics, knowing where to look
for research etc.

Also you may well be passionate about a VERY good niche to
profit from, if so your growth is likely to be very steady and
your profits may be faster in coming and hopefully better.

If you are just getting your feet wet.. choose any topic you
like.
If you want to start out hitting the ground running, spend
some time thinking about the topic / niche you choose.
If it is a broad niche, sport for example.. narrow it to a
niche within that niche.. like tennis, football.. etc.

If it's your first blog.. go set it up at blogger
Bear in mind try to put your topic keyword in the title of your
blog url.. i.e www. keywordhere. blogspot this will help your blog.
Get going, try it out.

Why blogger?

Several reasons for me and they are:
  • blogger has just got easier, better with the new beta.blogger.
  • far simpler to personalise your blog with, simple click-publish
  • google picks up your blog quickly, they DO own it. ;o)
  • easy adsense add on, likely to be your first source of income
  • google is behind this so it can only improve and grow
  • no fees at all, no techy knowledge needed
  • once competant, create more blogs on one dashboard, all free.
The very first step to success online is to simply get going!

Here is my very first post on my marketing blog.. note the date!
You may get some good reading from that blog. :o)

The important thing was for me to get going, as it is for you too.
It is very important you pick a topic you can write about and
not get bored with.. very important for the first blog.

Ok now you got your blog going.. at least started.

Post a link to it in the comments.. share your blog, I will take
a look, and you get your first bit of traffic!
